چکیده

Two types of nanoridge domains oriented with each other with an angle ranging between 109 and 124 were measured by scanning tunneling microscopy on the a-W film sputter deposited on an oxidized Si surface. Each domain contains nanoridges with a period of 7.5 1.0 nm. No such domains were observed on the b-W film surface. We argued that due to the anisotropy of the W(1 1 0) surface, the impinging W atoms diffuse faster along the h111i directions on the surface to form the nanoridge structure. There are two equivalent h111i directions, which give rise to two orientational domains with an angle of 110 . An isotropic b-W(1 0 0) phase has no preferred diffusion direction for the impinging W atoms and therefore, no nanoridge domain structure was observed. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Hollywood Post-9/11 Alien Films: Recontextualization of George. W. Bush's Discourse

The widely shocking attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11 was interpreted differently by various institutions worldwide, ranging from America's legitimate motive to begin a 'war on terror' to defend her 'very freedom', to a pretext for Bush administration to pursue G. H. W. Bush's temptation for 'a new world order'. Various institutions, therefore, made use of their...

Structure and properties of phospholipid-peptide monolayers containing monomeric SP-B(1-25) I. Phases and morphology by epifluorescence microscopy.

Epifluorescence microscopy was used to study the structure and phase behavior of phospholipid films containing a human-sequence monomeric SP-B(1-25) synthetic peptide (mSP-B(1-25)). Measurements were done directly at the air-water (A/W) interface on films in a Langmuir-Whilhelmy balance coupled to a fluorescence microscope and real-time detection system to yield an approximate optical resolutio...
